Rachael Bye

Footprints Foundation / cancer survivor

Rachael is a local country girl, a wife, a mother of two beautiful daughters, and works as an accountant in Sale.

She is the treasurer of the Footprints Foundation and coordinates the Sale Mother’s Day Classic each year.

She is also a breast cancer survivor.

At age 37, Rachael’s world was turned upside down with a breast cancer diagnosis. As a mother of girls aged 7 & 9 at the time, her life was already extremely busy - and now this!

From the day of her diagnosis, her treatment plan was intense with numerous surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and hormone therapy… it was relentless.

To this day she still has 6 monthly appointments with specialists and is monitored closely.

Cancer affected Rachael in many ways. She says ‘Cancer takes away everything, it strips you of the identity you thought you had’.

Rachael is extremely passionate about research into breast cancer and the development of drugs available to help save lives.

Rachael deeply understands the importance of family and friends and what is truly important.

In her words ‘Life can be good again after cancer, but life is forever different. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about cancer’.
